Green onion

Green onions contain a large amount of vitamin C. In the old days, onions were the most essential anti-scurvy product. Sailors, setting off on a long journey, might not have taken enough cereal with them, but the bow had to be mandatory, otherwise scurvy could destroy all participants in the voyage. The most important chemicals due to which onions are so useful are ascorbic acid, which we mentioned earlier, phytoncides that kill pathogens, and bitterness that have choleretic and anthelmintic effects.
